My approach
"When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mold you, it feels damn good ... When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on. It is astonishing how elements which seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens. How confusions which seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard."
These words from Carl Rogers eloquently express the heart of my approach to psychotherapy. My role as your therapist is, first and foremost, to listen. By listening without judgment, I will begin to understand how the world looks through the prism of your personality and experience, which in turn will help me reflect back to you what I see as your authentic strengths and challenges.
Change is, paradoxically, a journey of acceptance. When you feel seen, heard and understood, your self-acceptance will increase and your self-criticism will lessen. It's this experience of authentic self-evaluation and acceptance that will serve as the sturdy foundation for the sometimes challenging psychological and behavioral work required to be your best and most authentic self.
I am here to assist you on your journey of potential, hope and wellness.
